Live Aboard Rentals Cancun

Yacht, catamaran and sailboat rentals for overnight

live aboard yacht rentals in Cancun and Riviera Maya

Welcome to Boat Rentals for Overnight in Cancun and Riviera Maya. If what you want is to go offshore for a boat ride through the Cancun area and its surroundings, the best way is to sleep on board a yacht or catamaran. If the live aboard rental is luxury, the better. About “boat camping” or Boat Overnighting we can say: the cheaper the less luxurious and vice versa.

Azimut 55 ft.

A 55-foot Sea Ray would go out at $ 5,250 for every 24 hours. 3 full cabins, all very comfortable, and they arrive quickly (3-4 hours) to the ports if they go fast. On live-aboard rentals it is a good idea to go slow to see hotels and points of interest. From Cancun to the island it is an hour. From the island to Puerto Morelos is 2.5 hours. Same from Puerto to Cozumel. But going slow you can do 6-7 hours.

Sea Ray 41

A smaller yacht would be a Sea Ray 41 feet from a cabin and a half. They fit 2 adults and two children very well, but just the same and if they are 4 adults, you can take turns in the good cabin, since the half cabin is much less comfortable. Doing Overnight cruising is quick to get to a port easily. The night goes out at $ 2200 USD on this Sea Rat 41.

A luxury catamaran is for me the best option if you are from 6 to 8 people, and it would cost $ 3,000 USD a night (boat sitting).

If what you want is “cheap”, it could be a 42-foot sailboat for sleeping overnight. A very good sailboat, a good year model. Being a sailboat you do 7 hours to each destination, or more, depending on the wind. It is cheap compared to the yacht and it starts at $ 3000 USD for 48 hours.

Where to go in Riviera Maya on Live Aboard Boat Rentals?

When on board house boat rentals, you decide where you want to go but we always give you the best recommendations. For example, if it is 3 nights on a yacht (I do not say sailboat because those are slower from one port to another) it could be one night in Isla Mujeres.

Another night in Puerto Morelos and another night in Cozumel. From Cancun to Isla Mujeres it is an hour away. From Isla Mujeres to Puerto Morelos is 3 hours (can be more or less, depending on the speed snf the kind of cruising through the coast. The same way to Cozumel). From Puerto Morelos to Cozumel is between 2 and 3 hours.

The same is to Puerto Aventuras, which is approximately the same distance. From Puerto Aventuras to Cozumel, or vice versa, it is like from an hour and a half to 2 hours. And on the other side of Cancun is Holbox. From Cancun to Holbox it’s 4 hours. It can be many more hours if we do fishing or snorkeling between Isla Contoy and Holbox, there are good reef rocks for fishing in between.

What to do in the ports when yacht overnighting?

In Isla Mujeres it is best to rent a golf cart to visit the island. In the south of the island there is a kind of open-air museum of statues and metal masterpieces by different artists. There is also a stone that says “Here are the first sun rays that touch Mexico everyday”, and the sea view from there is impressive, excellent photos. Playa Norte is the social beach of the island, it is where all the yachts, boats and catamarans are anchored to spend the day. My favorite restaurant in the island has dock for boats, it’s called Marbella. In Isla Mujeres you sleep on board the yacht in a bay near Playa Norte where the waves do not hit, or in a marina around there if it’s better.

Sleep on a yacht in Cozumel

In Cozumel the coolest is to rent a jeep and drive throughout the entire island. A Jeep because road is longer than Isla Mujeres and it is highway for cars. As you probably know, Cozumel’s reefs for diving are some of the best in the world. You can rent equipment in Cozumel with a dive master and tell him to take you to “The devil’s throat, which is a cave, long, dark and goes down to 140 feet deep, quite an experience. As for beaches, the famous El Cielo beach, among others of more distant such as the Isla de la Pasión beach, in the north of the island.

Yacht rental for overnight in Riviera Maya

In Riviera Maya the destinations with dock are: Puerto Morelos, Punta Maroma and Puerto Aventuras. In Playa del Carmen there is no port to get off the boat freely. Only some hotels and the ferry have. Punta or Playa Maroma is also a hotel and have its dock. Only with prior permission and paying you can use it, however there is not much to do on land there. There are reefs in front of Maroma, which can be done directly from the boat.

Many live aboard rentals in Cancun and nearby ports happen at the main pier. Such is the case of Puerto Morelos. The trip there is to walk and know the very good gastronomy that the yacht destination has to offer. Try the two-story bars on the beach and go to a restaurant called Punta Corcho, beside the central park. Walking along its beaches is another activity, as it is full of tourists and street vendors of junk food such as kibis, fruit with chili powder, sugared bread, corn “ezquite”, empanadas, etc. Between destination and destination, you can snorkel in Isla Mujeres, in Nizuc, in Maroma, throughout the Riviera Maya in general, Puerto Aventuras and, of course, in Cozumel.

Live aboard catamaran, sailboat and yacht rentals in Cancun and Riviera Maya

Boat sitting for 6 people requires a catamaran or a medium/large yacht. It needs 3 cabins, and the crew (sailor and captain) could be accommodated to sleep outside in the open air. A sailboat is cheaper and, well accommodated, up to 6 people can fit on it. The sailor can prepare things that he knows (he is not a chef) such as ceviches, aguachiles, eggs, fruit, cereal, etc. Simple things. Ice and supplies can be provided at ports.sleep on board a catamaran Riviera Maya
